Hana Walton:
Hana is a passionate kaitiaki (guardian) of te taiao (the natural world) with a background in farm management, conservation, and ecological restoration.
She is currently employed by Christchurch City Council as a biodiversity ranger within the Ōtakaro Avon River corridor and is an active member of the Ōtamahua Quail Island Ecological Restoration Trust. Hana's professional experience and educational background give her a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the environment of Te Ahu Patiki.
Hana descends from Koukourarata, Ōnuku and Rāpaki whakapapa and she is honoured to be representing Te Rūnanga o Koukourarata on the board of the Ahu Patiki Charitable Trust. She is committed to working towards the rising of the mauri (life force) and mana (prestige) of her turangawaewae (ancestral land) Te Pataka O Rakaihautū Banks Peninsula. She is confident that the trust can play a significant role in the environmental restoration and protection of the maunga (mountain) and the wider environment - Ki Uta Ki Tai (From the Mountains to the Sea.)
