Facilities and conditions on the maunga:

Toilet facilities are available at the Orton Bradley Park entrance to Te Ahu Pātiki and at the Mt. Herbert Shelter in the Dept. of Conservation Reserve at the highest most point of the maunga mountain. There are no facilities in Te Ahu Pātiki Park.

The park is a wilderness area and very steep, please arrive prepared. Sudden weather changes are common so warm clothing, wet weather gear and sturdy footwear are essential.

An ample supply of food and water are also essential as there are no amenities within the park. Orton Bradley Park has a café but it only operates during the summer season. The walk length varies depending on which access and route you choose to take, but it is probably wise to allow a full day to really enjoy the park.
